United States: Biosecurity Expert Consultation - On-Site Event
Overview
We are seeking biology experts to apply for a one-day paid event. Participation on location in either Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco (SoMa), CA; or Washington DC will take place over six hours and is aimed at testing the boundaries and risks associated with AI models and AI-enabled technologies in regard to biosecurity. This is an opportunity to provide expertise crucially important to the mitigation of AI-related biological risk, as well as explore the intersection of this technology with research, development, and innovation. Participants will receive USD $600 for their time.
Job Description
Applicants with the required experience will choose an appropriate date between May 3-6, when they will attend the six-hour event. On that day the participation will involve the following:
- Check-in and an initial one-hour training session introducing the language model functions and instructions on how to interact with the chatbot.
- A further five hours engaging with the chatbot using a provided laptop (including breaks and refreshments will be provided).
- Free parking is provided. Escorts to parking areas will be available in the evenings as required.
Requirements and Experience
No previous experience with AI models or chatbots is required, however applicants must:
- Have a Ph.D in genetics, virology, or microbiology.
- Have at least one year of professional hands-on wet lab experience (e.g., pipetting, growing cell cultures, running gels).
- Be eligible to legally work in the United States.
- Be eligible to legally work in the United States.
- Have U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or be a registered refugee.
- Only register and participate once in the event.
